St. Gianna Life Awards
St. Gianna Life Award
We are a people of life because God, in his unconditional love, has given us the Gospel of Life…and we are called to act accordingly.” (Pope John Paul II, Gospel of Life)
On his visit to the United States of America Pope Saint John Paul II popularized the term “culture of life,” and spoke directly about the primacy of abortion among other political issues. Two years later he published a landmark papal letter, The Gospel of Life (Evangelium Vitae, 1995) giving the Church’s teaching on matters concerning life and respect for the dignity of the human person. The Holy Father begins by saying the Gospel of Life is “Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as ‘good news’ to the people of every age and culture [because of the] Birth of a Child which is proclaimed as joyful news.”
Our Center annually presents to persons and to organizations The Saint Gianna Center Life Award to those who consistently exemplify the call of the Gospel of Life. Recipients are recognized because of their personal or professional contributions, who have demonstrated a commitment to the pro-life movement, promoting respect for the dignity of the human person, and to advocacy for an end to the culture of death.
The Saint Gianna Center Life Award recognizes those who exemplify the call by Pope John Paul II by working humbly, without fanfare, seeking no recognition, and serving others.
